Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
TapCook ("we," "us") is operated by testmaxx LLC. TapCook helps you set a nutrition goal, then check whether the recipes you save fit that goal. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. We keep your recipe library and your body/goal details on your device wherever possible, and we do not sell your personal information or run advertising trackers.
Information we handle
- Your goal and body details. During setup TapCook asks for your goal (lose, maintain, or gain), and details such as your height, current weight, goal weight, date of birth, sex, and how often you train. TapCook uses these on your device to calculate your daily calorie and protein targets. This information is stored locally (including in a private app group shared with the TapCook share extension). It is not sent to the recipe-reading services listed below, and we do not use it to build an advertising profile.
- Recipes you save. When you share a recipe link to TapCook, the recipe it creates — its title, ingredients, steps, images, and estimated nutrition — is stored on your device. We do not keep a copy of your library on our servers.
- The links you save. To turn a video into a recipe and estimate its nutrition, TapCook sends the shared URL (and, where available, the video's caption, audio, or a still frame) to the third-party services listed below. This content is processed to return structured recipe and macro data; it is not used to identify you.
- Account and sign-in. TapCook offers optional sign-in with Apple, Google, or email. If you sign in, we (through our authentication provider, Supabase) receive an account identifier and, depending on the method you choose, your email address. With Sign in with Apple you can choose to hide your email. We use this only to secure your account and restore access — not for marketing.
- Product analytics. To understand which features are used and where people get stuck, TapCook records anonymous usage events (for example, which onboarding step you reached, or that a recipe was saved) tied to a randomly generated install identifier and a per-session identifier. These events are stored on our backend (Supabase). They are not linked to your name or account and are never used for advertising or shared with advertisers.
- Feedback you send. If you use the in-app feedback form, we receive the message and category you submit, along with the app version, so we can improve the app.
- Subscription status. If you start a subscription, our payments provider (RevenueCat) receives a randomly generated app user ID and your purchase/entitlement information so we can unlock premium features and support restores. We never receive your card number, and all payment is handled by Apple.
- Diagnostics. The app may collect anonymous crash and performance diagnostics through Apple's standard tools to keep TapCook stable. This is not linked to your identity.
- Advertising & attribution. We run ads (for example on TikTok) to reach new people. To measure which ads actually lead to installs and key actions — so we don't waste spend — we use the TikTok Business SDK together with Apple's SKAdNetwork. If you grant permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, this may include your device's advertising identifier (IDFA); if you decline, measurement falls back to Apple's privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork, which does not identify you. This is limited to measuring our own advertising.
How we use information
- To calculate your calorie and protein targets and check whether a recipe fits your goal.
- To turn the videos you save into readable recipe cards with nutrition estimates.
- To operate optional accounts and manage subscriptions.
- To understand product usage in aggregate and improve the app.
- To measure which ads bring new people to TapCook, so our advertising is effective.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not show third-party ads inside the app, and we do not sell your data to advertisers or data brokers. The only ad-related activity is measuring our own ads, as described above.
- We do not use your goal or body details to train the recipe-reading AI, and we do not send those details to it.
Third-party services
TapCook relies on the following providers. Each processes only what it needs and is governed by its own privacy policy:
- Anthropic (Claude) — reads recipe captions/transcripts to produce structured ingredients, steps, and nutrition estimates.
- OpenAI (Whisper) — transcribes recipe-video audio into text.
- Supadata — retrieves public video metadata and transcripts.
- Supabase — hosts our backend, optional accounts, and anonymous product analytics.
- TikTok (TikTok Business SDK) — measures the performance of our ads and attributes installs. Governed by TikTok's own privacy policy.
- Apple & RevenueCat — process subscription purchases and manage entitlements. All payment handling is done by Apple.
Data retention
Your recipe library and your goal/body details live on your device and are removed when you delete them in the app or delete the app. Content sent to the extraction services above is processed to fulfill your request and retained by those providers only per their own policies. Anonymous analytics events, feedback, account records, and subscription records are retained by us or our providers as needed to run the service; the install identifier used for analytics resets if you delete and reinstall the app.
Children
TapCook is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices
Your library and body details live on your device, so you control them directly — edit or delete them in the app, or delete the app, to remove that data. To manage or cancel a subscription, use your Apple ID settings. To delete an optional account or request deletion of feedback or analytics associated with your device, email us at the address below and we will help.
Changes
We may update this policy as TapCook evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
